A lot of this is very subjective. When I think of chocolate cake I think back to my childhood and the cake my grandma used to make. Now, thirty years later I have no idea whether that cake was objectively good but I do know that my seven year old self got very excited at the prospect of another piece. I had a piece of cake yesterday for the first time in ages and all I could think of was how sweet it was. It didn't seem to taste of anything except sugar. Is that me getting older or just a bad cake experiernce.
